As the recipient of the Five Star Wealth Manager Award in 2020 and 2021, Alex comes to Woodson Wealth Management from Mercer Advisors, where he served roughly 90 families and managed over $100 million in investments. He has been actively engaged with the Society of Financial Service Professionals and served on the board of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Rochester.
At the age of 19, Alex found himself unexpectedly immersed in the world of personal finance. Taking charge of his household’s financial matters following the passing of a close family member—someone who had never established a financial plan—Alex received a crash course by way of experience. This event motivated him to pursue Personal Financial Planning at SUNY Alfred State College so that he could help others avoid the weight that financial stress can place on people’s shoulders.
Alex started his career as a representative of a broker dealer and an insurance agent (industries that sell products), but he didn’t agree with how commissions influenced their recommendations. So, he made a change to follow a “fee-only” approach, which means he prioritizes transparency and putting his client’s best interests first. Instead of pushing products, Alex focuses on educating and empowering his clients so that they can make decisions with confidence.
During his free time, Alex enjoys hiking with his dog, camping, mountain biking, stand-up comedy, playing guitar, golfing, traveling, snowboarding, participating in indoor soccer, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills (Go Bills!).
