Wealth Manager, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™
Amy’s primary passion is helping clients keep and make the most of what they have so they can spend more time with their loved ones and give more to their favorite causes.
Her career spans over 20 years, starting in the financial services industry in 1999 at Spectrum Financial Group in Dallas, Texas. After passing NASAA’s Series 65 exam in 2006, Amy’s first licensed position was as an Investment Advisor Representative with a New Orleans-based third-party money management firm. She quickly learned that the true value of an attorney and an advisor stems from the “why” of their service, and their knowledge base.
Wanting to learn as much as possible about advanced planning strategies, Amy went to law school at the University of Houston with the primary intention of helping people build and preserve wealth. While there, she did extensive work with UofH Law’s award-winning clinical program, helping clients with their Estate Planning needs and bankruptcy filings.
Amy also put her Chemistry background to good use while clerking at a law firm specializing in class action lawsuits against companies who falsely advertise their products as “natural” or “organic.” To learn even more about tax law, she then went on to intern at the Internal Revenue Service in their Large Business and International division. Before graduating with her J.D. in 2014, she became a published author.
Immediately after passing the Texas Bar exam, with the help of incredible mentors and the strong support of her existing financial advisor network, Amy opened her own boutique law firm specializing in Estate Planning. She is proud to say that some of her first clients were the parents of her fellow law students, some of whom were attorneys themselves.
In 2017, she was invited to join the “Thundering Herd” at Merrill Lynch, where she worked alongside teams as a financial advisor and financial planner, specializing in HNW wealth management. While there, Amy passed FINRA’s Series 7 exam, NASAA’s Series 66 exam, the Texas Life and Health Insurance exam, and the CFP® exam to earn the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. Amy is one of a very few actively practicing attorneys in the State of Texas who also hold the CFP® designation. CFP® professionals are rigorously trained in 72 areas of financial expertise, including Estate Planning and tax law, and must accrue thousands of hours of experience prior to earning their certification. They must also meet the CFP® Board’s stringent ethical requirements.
After returning to her private law practice in 2021, she completed Texas’s 40 hours of Alternative Dispute Resolution training to serve as a mediator and serves as a court-appointed Attorney Ad Litem in Harris County Probate courts. Amy is currently an Investments & Wealth Institute® CPWA® candidate, having completed her Wealth Management Theory & Practice coursework through Yale’s School of Management.
Amy is most proud of her three children. She and her husband Felix who works in commercial real estate development, reside in the Montrose area of Houston. Together, they enjoy spending time with their children, traveling, and visiting their families in Los Angeles and Louisiana. With the remainder of her free time, she sleeps.
